Line Cook

Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Do you have culinary education and experience in mid-to-large-sized culinary environments? Do you enjoy preparing a variety of high-quality foods and creating exceptional experiences?  Line Cooks are sought to work under the leadership of the Executive Chef and Sous Chef to prepare and deliver food service depending on the needs of the restaurant.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs), walking and standing for long periods of time required.
  • Flexible work schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Periodical exposure outside the kitchen. Consistent exposure to flora and fauna.
  • Exposure to hot and cold elements in kitchen.
  • Able to work in fast-paced environment.
  • Assist with all duties as assigned.
  • Make sure all storage areas are tidy and all products are stored appropriately.
  • Maintain a prepared and sanitary work area at all times.
  • Close the kitchen, following the closing checklist for kitchen stations.
  • Serve menu items compliant with established standards.
  • Notify Chef in advance of likely shortages.
  • Cover, date and correctly store all bits and pieces and food prep items.
  • Arrange sauces and supplementary garnishes for allocated station.
  • Prepare a variety of foods; meat, seafood, poultry, vegetable, and cold food items.
  • Set up stations and collect all necessary supplies to prepare menu for service.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all storage areas.
  • Ensure work area is in clean and sanitary condition in accordance with company health regulations and safety regulations;
    including all counter tops, utensils, equipment, and refrigeration.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures regarding sanitary food handling.
  • Create exceptional experiences through high quality food and superior customer service.
  • Ability to read and follow instructions as per catering function sheets.
  • Ability to operate golf carts.
  • Valid Alberta or out of province vehicle operator’s license.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a culinary environment. Strong preference given to those with experience in mid-to-large-sized operations.

The successful candidates will possess the following qualifications and behaviours:

  • Alberta FoodSafe Training
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Red Seal Training preferred
  • 1-2 years minimum Culinary education
  • Commitment to service excellence
  • Experienced in food preparation
