Sous Chef-In-Training - Various Alberta Locations

Our hospitality client is looking for experienced, innovative Sous-Chefs (Chefs-in-Training) to lead our culinary team. We are always on the search for driven individuals who are inspired to grow, learn and discover their full potential while progressing in a dynamic company dedicated to culinary excellence and career elevation. As a Sous Chef in-Training, you will have the opportunity to impact our in-house apprenticeship program, sponsor apprentices and build on the relationships we have developed with local cooking colleges which may include guest lecturing, teaching, or curriculum development. If you work in one of our test store locations you will have a part in our product development and testing. Your ongoing training could include invitations to the James Beard House in New York, product development trips to destinations such as France, Italy or New York, annual culinary trips to places to destinations such as Napa Valley, Portland, or Nootka Sound. You may be invited to be a part of the opening team for our new locations and see first-hand what it takes to get a restaurant opened from the ground up. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a kitchen team
  • A passion for food and a relentless drive to grow
  • Work along-side apprentices and build on existing relationships with local cooking colleges, possibly including guest lecturing, teaching or curriculum development
  • Relationship building skills to maintain a collaborative, supportive and positive work environment
  • The ability and passion to create incredible tasting artwork - imaginative, highly distinctive and bold
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and behaviours:
