Sales & Marketing Manager(In Store)

Location: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

 

Summary:

The Sales & Marketing Manager (SMM) is the local/regional brand ambassador for our client. The role oversees all aspects of branding through internal and external events and relationships. The SMM is responsible for rolling out all corporate marketing initiatives as well as identifying local and regional opportunities for creating awareness around the client and driving sales at the store level.

This person leads by example with the company’s "hands on" philosophy and should also represent and practice all of the clients core values.

Accountabilities:

  • This position works out of the restaurant with 45 hours per week
  • Brand ambassador
  • Roll out corporate marketing initiatives and provide feedback on success and opportunities
  • Identify local marketing opportunities (internal & external), and develop roll outs outlining strategy and metrics to drive sales as well a post mortem which evaluates the success of the initiative
  • Local advertising and media buys
  • Identify key relationships and memberships that will help build the client brand and drive sales (Suppliers, media, community, other restaurants, etc.)
  • Liaison for all media relations and inquiries such as TV appearances, familiarization tours hosting food/beer writers, etc.
  • Maintain a current media contact list and database
  • Notify relevant media of notable happenings at the venue 
  • Manage all social media channels and online review sites. Ensure that content is relevant and respond in a timely manner to all guest feedback; within 2-3 hours reply
  • Work with General Manager and management team to reinforce brand, guest and staff experience
  • Ensure that all marketing collateral (internal and external) is consistent in messaging and design that reflect the clients brand
  • Ensure that all internal marketing collateral is current
  • Identify new ways to build a sales culture within the restaurant
  • Attend relevant external events and act as the "face of the client" to build relationships
  • Ensure that website is up to date
  • Create content for and send out monthly e-newsletter to guests
  • Maintain and build guest database for e-newsletter
  • Work with graphic designer to create all marketing collateral for in store events and advertising
  • Lead all external tradeshows and events (ex: Beer Festival)
  • Maintain a current marketing calendar that outlines all internal, and relevant external, events
  • Manage all aspects of retail merchandise - inventory, display, sales strategies, etc.
  • Work closely with Events Coordinator to share contacts and ensure you are maximizing opportunities for cross over sales
  • Develop local sales & marketing plans along with General Manager and Events Coordinator
  • Liaison for all charity and community initiatives – ie: Ronald McDonald House, St. Vincent de Paul, etc.
  • Oversee mobile app to ensure that all information and that push notifications are being sent to users

Responsibilities:

  • Attend relevant seminars that would be applicable marketing initiatives
  • Remains alert to, and are interested in, developments in the overall foodservice industry
  • Brings ideas that may be of interest to the company to the attention of the ownership and operations team
  • Provides support for and performs such other tasks as may be assigned by the COO, President or Director of Brand, Sales & Marketing from time to time
  • Has a hands on approach to tasks given to ensure the main goal is for the best results for the company

Qualifications:

  • Minimum one year experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge of sales and marketing is an asset
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office is an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly effective project management, prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management skills to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work well with a team or individually
  • Ability to absorb new ideas and concepts quickly and to ensure they are clearly communicated to an audience
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical abilities
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Outgoing personality with a sense of humour
  • Energetic, self-motivated and results-oriented
  • Hospitality industry experience would be an asset
  • Ability to exercise good judgment & show initiative
  • This individual also works effectively without supervision at all times, and has a well-developed sense of business acumen
