COMMUNITY EDUCATOR - Calgary

The CSHC is a community-based organization that provides access to non-judgmental sexual and reproductive health services and supports across the lifespan. The Community Educator is responsible for the delivery of the CSHC comprehensive sexual health curriculum within the school system and in community. This is a one year contract position with the possibility of extension and reports directly to the Education Programs Manager.

Reporting to the Education Programs Manager, key responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

  •   Facilitates comprehensive sexuality programs in schools primarily, supports community outreach programs when possible

  •   Attends community events as a representative of the organization and supports community event volunteers

  •   Administers evaluation and outcomes measurements to program participants

  •   Adapts and creates new comprehensive sexuality education programs and activities to reflect organizational

    priorities, emerging needs, and information changes

  •   Establish and maintain positive working relationships with school and community partners

  •   Participate in agency and community collaborations, initiatives and activities

  •   Participate in regular performance planning and review

    Desired qualifications include:

  •   A combination of relevant experiences and/or related human services educational backgrounds.

  •   Proven group facilitation experience.

  •   Ability and comfort working with diverse populations of youth and adults.

  •   Knowledge of and comfort with sexuality and sexual health issues

  •   Pro-choice philosophy.

  •   Commitment to anti-oppressive practices.

  •   Ability to build and maintain relationships with community partners.

  •   Ability to work effectively in fast-paced team environment.

  •   Excellent organization and time management skills.

  •   Must have access to a reliable vehicle and be able to work flexible hours.
