Intermediate Bookkeeper/Office Administrator

NOTE*** This is a permanent part-time position offering 25-30 hrs/ week

As the Intermediate Accountant you are responsible for performing a variety of accounting and administrative functions.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Perform a variety of period-end closing procedures including data entry, preparing or approving of manual journal entries, ensuring completeness and integrity of G/L data, and preparation of and analysis of balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Assist in the preparation of the monthly reporting packages, budgeting, forecasting and trend analysis.
  • Maintain and ensuring the data integrity of various management reports.
  • Assist in the interim and year-end audit, including preparation of working papers and providing support for audit queries.
  • Perform banking duties such as the set-up of accounts, review of payments, processing transfers, wires, and disbursements, and corresponding directly with financial institutions.
  • Maintenance of key balance sheet accounts and supporting schedules, including but not limited to, cash, prepaids, deposits, capital assets, GST / PST and intercompany.
  • Completion of GST / PST and other government filings and reconciliations.
  • Accounts Payables and receivables
  • Assist in the completion of special projects and/or adhoc projects throughout the business, as required including admin support for the HR team, document control, filing and other duties as assigned

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • The candidate is professional, technically proficient, independent thinker and likes to have fun!
  • Thrives in high-volume, fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience working with streamlining complex processes.
  • Good understanding of accounting concepts and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with various internal and external stakeholders in a professional manner and explains difficult issues clearly to the appropriate audience.
  • Strong organizational qualities, with the ability to multi-task several competing priorities at once.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and in a team-based environment and be able to lead when needed.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel.
  • NetSuite and cloud based software experience would be considered an asset.

 QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience is required.
  • Experience in the Information Technology, Professional services or legal background would be considered an asset.
